A Certain Scientific Railgun Season 4 Announced

At the Dengeki Bunko Winter Festival 2025, the announcement for the new production of “A Certain Scientific Railgun Season 4” was made. Returning to helm the long-awaited sequel is series director Tatsuyuki Nagai, along with studio J.C.Staff. Check out the announcement trailer below.

The announcement of A Certain Scientific Railgun Season 4 comes five years after the third season that aired from January to September in 2020. The adaptation of Toaru Anbu no Shoujo Kyousei, another spinoff by Kazuma Kamachi and Nilitsu, was also announced. You can check it below.

A Certain Magical Index ✕ Spinoffs Is One Of The Best-Selling Light Novel Franchise Ever

A Certain Scientific Railgun is adapted from the manga series with the same name, a spinoff to the A Certain Magical Index light novel series. Kazuma Kamachi writes both series, with Index being among the best-selling series of all time. Overall, the franchise has over 31 million copies in circulation.

The Railgun manga is licensed in English by Yen Press, which describes it as:

Welcome to a world where mysticism collides with science and supernatural powers are derived either from science or religion. At the heart of this world stands Academy City, a state-of-the-art metropolis filled mostly with students. Most of the students have entered the city’s “Power Curriculum Program,” where they learn to develop their latent psychic powers. Only seven out of several million students are evaluated to be powerful enough to have Level 5 status.
