The first season of the Blue Orchestra anime was directed by Seiji Kishi, while Yuko Kakihara wrote the script and was in charge of series composition. Kazuaki Morita did the character design and was supervisor for animation direction, Akira Kosemura was the music composer, and Satoki Iida was sound director.

Written and illustrated by Makoto Akui, the manga Blue Orchestra (Ao no Orchestra) has been serialized since 2017 on the Manga ONE app of Shogakukan, which is also issuing its print edition under the Ura Sunday Magazine. The synopsis Aono was influenced by his father, who was a violinist. He competed in competitions until the first grade of junior high school. After his father left home, Hajime grew indifferent and started keeping his distance from the violin. However, towards the fall of his junior year in high school, he meets Ritsuko Akine.
Teaching her violin as a beginner, Aono again faces music, reaffirms his love for music, and enrolls in Umimaku High School alongside Akine, which has a pretty famous orchestra club. With friendly competition, he refines his talent as he confronts himself and his past, competing against his rivals and friends.
