Exciting Preview for Pokémon Anime ‘Dragonite and the Postman’ by CoMix Wave Films

The first preview trailer and images have been released for the new Pokémon anime titled Kairyu to Yubinyasan (Dragonite and the Postman) by studio CoMix Wave Films. The anime was announced last week, and it is set to be released on February 27 on Pokémon’s official YouTube channel to celebrate Pokémon Day. The special anime is also expected to run for about 14 minutes.

The tale follows Hana, a girl who trains herself to be a mail carrier like Dragonite. She will be voiced by Rika Fukumoto and find an unaddressed letter, which will send her on a quest to find its sender. With her partner Fuecoco, she rushes through the city and eventually finds the sender, a boy named Rio. He reveals that the letter was meant to celebrate his father’s birthday, but his father is away working alone in the Kanto region, and today is the big day.

Director Kimura stated in an interview concerning the new anime, “Because it is the 29th Anniversary, we put an effort into including Pokémon from different series. The structure of the story is designed to retrace its steps gradually through earlier series, starting from the Paldea region.”

Screenwriter Kentaro Nana also remarked about the scene in which Kyogre appears: “Visually, it left a strong impression and I felt it would work quite well in a particularly exciting part of the story. Director Kimura added some fantastic direction to it, so I’d be hoping the audience enjoys it.”
